Boynton Beach Pilot Program Concept

A municipal pilot concept demonstrating coordinated outdoor communication on existing city infrastructure — safety, civic information and a managed advertising layer on one network.

Case Study

Overview

The Boynton Beach pilot program concept evaluates SP Slim™ as a way to consolidate fragmented street-level communication — emergency alerts, civic information and outdoor advertising — onto a single operator-friendly platform.

The concept focuses on a representative set of corridors and gathering points where reach at street level has historically been limited to static signs and printed materials.

Deployment Environment

SP Slim™ pole-mounted units at 6 ft tall and 2 ft wide are installed on existing city pole infrastructure to keep streetscape impact minimal.

Targeted locations include downtown corridors, civic plazas, municipal parking nodes and community gathering points across the city footprint.

Communication Objectives

Each unit operates three coordinated channels: a priority public-safety channel, a civic-information channel operated by the city, and a curated advertising layer governed by municipal brand and content standards.

The objective is unified delivery of safety, civic and commercial messaging at the moment and place residents and visitors actually encounter the public realm.

Public Safety Benefits

Verified emergency alerts, weather warnings and AMBER/Silver notifications reach street-level audiences in seconds — a channel that complements (and reaches beyond) email, app and broadcast notifications.

The priority safety channel overrides commercial content automatically during defined incident conditions.

Advertising Opportunities

A managed, brand-safe advertising layer — operated under municipal standards — returns non-tax revenue to the city and underwrites the network's long-term operating costs.

Inventory is curated to align with local audiences and the civic character of each corridor.

Community Engagement Benefits

The civic channel provides departments with a coordinated outdoor surface for service updates, community programming, public meetings and neighborhood-level information.

The result is a more visible, more equitable communication footprint across districts — not just the downtown core.

Expected Outcomes

The concept validates coordinated multi-channel operation under real conditions, demonstrates emergency-alert performance at street level, and establishes the operational model for a city-owned advertising layer.

Operationally, a single network is expected to replace overlapping signage workflows currently handled by multiple departments and vendors.
